German chamomile is a member of the aster and sunflower family that people have used for centuries. Chamomile is probably best known as a tea to calm an upset stomach or to help with sleep. It is often used in teas and in topical products formulated for the hair and skin.
German chamomile is also used to treat irritation from chest colds, slow-healing wounds, abscesses, gum inflammation, and skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, chickenpox, and diaper rash. For these conditions, you use chamomile in an infusion or bath, or as a tincture, which is a concentrated extract mixed with alcohol.
some animals can be allergic to this plant and its relatives.
Chamomile has a mild restrictive effect on the uterine tissues therefore its usage should be limited during pregnancy. Like all herbs that have this effect, abortion may result so it is better to avoid this herb during pregnancy
